Spring Park Don’t Wanna Grow Older or be a Burnout Living Life Sober.

From the smog-filled factory streets of Northampton come Spring Park – an energetic mix of melodic pop-punk influences and the fury of ’77 bands like UK Subs and The Damned.  Their debut album ‘Happy Pills’ was released November 2015 on indie label Sewer Rat Records and was followed up by their 2016 E.P. ‘Blow Up Your TV’, securing them shows around the UK with the likes of Sham 69, The Vibrators, Peter & The Test Tube Babies, UK Subs, Argy Bargy & Dirt Box Disco.  With a new album set to drop in 2019, you can catch a glimpse of what to expect from it on Sunday 5th August at 4 pm on the Rebellion Introducing Stage.

Is this your first time playing Rebellion? If not, when have you played before?

I’ve been lucky enough to of played Rebellion a few times in the past with my other bands including last year with Spunk Volcano and The Eruptions, its always a blast to be at Rebellion!

What tips for other musicians do you have on applying to play Rebellion?

If you have a record out mail a copy to Daz and play every gig you possibly can. We have 2 rules, work hard and don’t be a dick.  Follow that and you’ll probably be in with a shout.

What is your all-time fave Rebellion performance/moment?

Shit man, where do I start with this! I’ve got a few… I’ve only missed 2 years of Rebellion, My 1st was in 2005 when it was Wasted Festival, GBH brought Lars Frederiksen out to play a few songs with them, that was wicked to see and so unexpected! Seeing Social Distortion play the Ballroom was crazy, and to have both Social D and Rancid play the same year was just nuts!! I always catch the UK Subs cause they’re one of the best bands ever and a huge influence for me, I’ve got memories of coming out of the pit for the Subs and having a bust lip losing my shirt and absolutely LOVING IT! There’s a picture of that somewhere online I think…

Who/what is your dream Rebellion performance?

Easy one…..The Clash. They’re the greatest band of all time, and again a band that had a huge influence on me. If I had to choose from bands now for a dream lineup I’d probably say The Specials and Green Day joint headline.

What is a must-have thing (what do you always bring that you cannot leave home without?) for Rebellion?

A big bottle of Rum.

Best hangover cure? If anyone in the band is sober, what beverage or food keeps you going for Rebellion!

Best hangover cure??? Another big bottle of rum of course! Spring Park don’t do sober haha as our song Charlie says.. “I don’t wanna grow older or be a burnout living life sober”.

What part of a music kit do you think every artist should bring to Rebellion?

Not mentioning any names but we’ve played gigs before and been asked if we can lend not just amps but guitars drumsticks and even PICKS!

What song can the audience NOT miss out on seeing you play?

We’re doing a rendition of The Lion King’s ‘The Circle of Life’ don’t miss that!! We also have this song called ‘Blowing Smoke’ the chorus is only 6 seconds long or something stupid like that but it’s our favourite live track and always goes down well.

What day, time and stage are you performing?

We’re on the Rebellion Introducing Stage on the Sunday at 4 pm, just before songs of praise.

What are you currently working on or currently promoting?

We’re in the process of figuring out what we’re gonna be covering for Halloween. Each year we do a video of a cover song and have done The Offspring, Misfits, Rancid and Green Day up to now. We’ve also got a bunch of new songs that we’ve been working on for our second album which we’ll be putting out next year, some of which we’ll be playing at Rebellion. In the meantime, we’ll have an exclusive Rebellion CD that we’ll be giving away for free during the weekend, just grab a copy from us or Stu on the STP/Rebellion merch table.

Our ‘Blow Up Your TV!’ has just been repressed too and is available now via our webstore and gigs.

What is the best thing for you about Rebellion?

Along with the music, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones is the best part of the weekend. People travel from all over the world to come to Rebellion and it’s awesome to hang out and meet new people from different places, backgrounds, and cultures.

What do you think could be improved for your Rebellion experience?

Daz and the gang have got it spot on and it works. Everyone enjoys themselves and it always runs smooth, so can it be improved? Probably not. If there is one thing though, I’ve heard that the lager behind the bar could be a bit stronger haha
