Road to Rebellion – Headstone Horrors 5th Rebellion-versary

Is this your first time playing Rebellion? If not, when have you played before?

We’re very grateful that this is our 5th year in a row for Headstone Horrors. We played the pavillion stage in 2014, 2015 & 2016 then opened the Empress Ballroom on the Sunday last year and are really happy to be back on the Empress again this year.

What tips for other musicians do you have on applying to play Rebellion?

There are so many bands that apply each year, so don’t be disheartened if you don’t get booked. Just keep working hard and playing gigs throughout the rest of the year.

What is your all time fave Rebellion performance/moment?

Paul – Anti-Flag & Ex-Cathedra.

Jimi – Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise and Anti-Flag. Got to have a talk with Pat Thetic after…legend!

Nat – We always enjoy Geoffrey OiCott, particularly the year they played in the Olympia & Jase was hitting tennis balls in to the crowd. A dickie bird next to us took one to the face…….that was a 6!

Luke – Bouncing Souls and Face to Face.

Who/what is your dream Rebellion performance?

Jimi – Transplants or Joes Strummer if he was still alive.

Nat – The Distillers. I was too young and couldn’t get in to see them when they were touring the UK years ago.

Paul – Sperm Birds.

What is a must have thing (what do you always bring that you cannot leave home without?) for Rebellion?

Always gotta have Buckfast… and hairspray.

Best hangover cure? If anyone in the band is sober, what beverage or food keeps you going for Rebellion!

A combination of Alka Seltzer, hair of the dog, then breakfast.

What part of a music kit do you think every artist should bring to Rebellion?

Personally I think an engaging, well timed and rehearsed set list is vital ….and a tuner!

What song can the audience NOT miss out on seeing you play?

We’ve got a lot of new songs in the set this year, but if we have to single it down to one track, ‘Alone We Are The Dead’ always goes down well.

What day, time and stage are you performing?

We’re on Thursday, Empress Ballroom 2:15pm – 2:55pm.

What are you currently working on or currently promoting? (Songs, video, EP, new album, etc.) Please provide link where possible

We have started recording our second album ‘This Town Called Purgatory’, which we’re hoping to release later this year.

We also have a new music video planned for a song off the second album called ‘Blast Radius’.

What is the best thing for you about Rebellion?

Reuniting with friends from all over the world that we only get to see once a year.

What do you think could be improved for your Rebellion experience?

It sounds daft but a massage area would be amazing! We have a high energy live performance and with additional weekend dancing it really takes a toll on your neck, back & shoulders.
