Desensitised; Grrrls Go Acoustic at Rebellion Festival!

Desensitised, the three-piece grrrl-rockers with a reputation for hypnotic live shows, know how to bring the fun to a party. Coming to Rebellion Festival this August on the Almost Acoustic Stage, anyone present at their set will have the pleasure of a raw, talented – and rare – acoustic performance. The Punk Lounge caught up with Charlotte, Lead Singer and Bass extraordinaire, to find out what the girls have been up to and to find out what to expect from their set at this year’s festival.

Having seen you guys support Hands Off Gretel in Barnsley, I can say Desensitised puts on a pretty high-energy show. Will you bringing that same energy to the Almost Acoustic stage or are you looking to show your softer side? What can festival go’ers expect?

Our acoustic set will be a little bit more laid-back than our full electric shows, but we’ll still be performing with a ton of passion and energy as we always do! We feel that a lot of our original songs transition well between acoustic and electric versions, and we’ll be throwing in some surprise covers too!

What’s a stand-out Rebellion Festival memory, or just a great festival memory if you’ve not yet been to Rebellion?

We’ve never been to Rebellion Festival so this year will be our first time and we are so excited!

We did play a gig in Blackpool last year and spent the following day going on the fairground rides on the pier. Charlotte is terrified of heights so when we went on the big wheel she was freaking out and wanted to get off! We went on the waltzers afterwards and the ride operator said that we looked scared so we told him about the big wheel experience, he replied; “If you think that was scary, this ride will fuck you up!” before proceeding to spin our waltzer car around as fast as he could!!!

Any band you are particularly looking forward to watching at Rebellion?

There are so many of our friends playing Rebellion this year, it’s going to be so good to see them play the same event. People should definitely check out: The Soapgirls; Hands Off Gretel; The Kut; Healthy Junkies; Vertigo Violet; Pretty Addicted; Idestroy; Weekend Recovery; Vulpynes; and J’aime Rachelle. We’ve never seen Maid of Ace or Dream Nails but definitely want to catch their sets too!

Your last single ‘You’ll See’ came out back in May. What’s next for Desensitised?

There is a lot of exciting stuff happening in the world of Desensitised right now. Expect to see a lot more new music and music videos coming from us over the rest of this year! We’re so excited about our new songs and can’t wait for everyone to hear them! We’ll be gigging a lot too so check out our social media to keep up to date with where we’ll be playing.

A fun fact about Desensitised?

We have all known each other for over a decade. We were school friends before we even thought about starting a band, so it’s been really special to have grown up together both as a band and as friends too.

What song can the audience NOT miss out on seeing you play?

One of our songs that a lot of people seem to really like is ‘Burn The Witch’. We’re very proud of that song and usually introduce it at live shows with a scary story. We’ve recently recorded ‘Burn The Witch’ professionally with Sound-Hub studios, so keep your eyes peeled for more info on that!

Desensitised will be playing the Almost Acoustic stage of Rebellion Festival at 1.00pm on Thursday 2nd August. Judging by their loyal fanbase and the musicianship of album ‘Press Self Destruct’ you definitely don’t want to miss out! Head to their facebook page for more tour dates or their website to stream their album.
